I like astronomy, archaeology, photography, music and drinking a lot of tea. I hate politics. Something that annoys me: that I shall not respect the permanence, and to take me by what I'm not. THE INSTALLATION OF ELEVEN NEW VELVET LED PROJECTORS IN THE ZEISS PLANETARIUM IN BOCHUM HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED.
It is no longer a secret. The installation of eleven new VELVET LED projectors in the Zeiss Planetarium in Bochum has been successfully completed. What our customer has to say about this is shown in this video from the Bochum planetarium (in German). Thank you very much for the positive feedback!

Even if our doors and therefore the planetarium dome are currently closed for visitors, we would like to give you the opportunity to still participate in our renovation events. After all, this is also your favorite planetarium, which will shine in the new shine with improved projection technology and new interior until mid-December.
In this short film you will get an exclusive look behind the scenes, as well as some really spectacular dome scenes that will bring you into the current state of our renovation. The new eleven Zeiss Velvet projectors have now been installed and calibrated accordingly by Zeiss, so that a perfectly coordinated picture is created on the dome.
NEW ASTERION STAR BALL DURING THE IPS CONFERENCE IN EDMONTON AT THE QUEEN ELISABETH PLANETARIUM.
We would have loved to have presented our new ASTERION Star Ball during the IPS conference in Edmonton at the Queen Elisabeth Planetarium. Now, since the conference as an in person meeting was not possible, we plan to hold the presentation in an authentic planetarium environment in the Archenhold observatory in Berlin. We invite interested planetarians to experience ASTERION VELVET powered by UNIVIEW 3.1 on November 18th. Learn about the hybrid functionality in combination with a fulldome system featuring VELVET LED projectors. Take a closer look at the new Star Ball.
Sounds interesting? Contact us to receive an invitation will all the details.
ZEISS COMPLETED THE INSTALLATION OF A NEW "VELVET LED" FULLDOME VIDEO SYSTEM FOR THE CHUNGBUK SCIENCE CENTER IN THE KOREAN CITY OF CHEONGJU IN SEPTEMBER. SIX ZEISS VELVET LED PROJECTORS PRODUCE FULLDOME IMAGES ON THE 25 DEGREES TILTED PLANETARIUM DOME.
Scientific education center receives new "VELVET LED" projection technology from ZEISS
ZEISS completed the installation of a new "VELVET LED" fulldome video system for the Chungbuk Science Center in the Korean city of Cheongju in September. Six ZEISS VELVET LED projectors produce fulldome images on the 25 degrees tilted planetarium dome. The use of semiconductor light sources is a new feature of VELVET projectors: the LEDs provide a brighter overall display with significantly improved color brilliance. As a result, customers no longer have to worry about paying for regular bulb changes. The exceptionally high contrast for the ZEISS VELVET projectors is also retained with the new LED generation. First launched in 2019, the new projectors are now also being used outside of Germany for the first time.
The ZEISS STARMASTER, a planetarium projector from ZEISS, has been used to illustrate astronomical relationships in the 16-meter dome of the planetarium since 2001. In addition to installing the ZEISS VELVET video system, the company also provided technical maintenance of the ZEISS STARMASTER projector. The software and a selection of current shows on mainly astronomical topics are also part of the scope of delivery from ZEISS. The opto-mechanical starry sky and the digital astronomical displays are projected synchronously. ZEISS calls this technology "True Black Hybrid-Planetarium".
