COMET TSUCHINSHAN-ATLAS Taken by Alireza Vafa on October 15, 2024 @ Meygoon, Iran
On the evening of October 15th, the sky was a breathtaking sight as Comet Tsuchinshan Atlas lit up the dusk. Its bright tail shimmered under the soft glow of the moon, creating a beautiful contrast against the deepening twilight. Nearby, the M5 globular star cluster sparkled like a cluster of tiny diamonds, adding to the magic of the scene. Just a degree away, the faint Comet 13/P Olbers could be seen, reminding us of the many wonders in our universe!

El 12 de octubre del 2024 a las 15.18 horas ( TU - 3 hrs ), el cometa C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan - Atlas, se encontrará a la mínima distancia de la Tierra, unos 70 610 000 kilómetros.
Su velocidad de desplazamiento respecto a la Tierra en ese momento será de unos 80.5 km/seg= 289 800 kilómetros por hora.
Imposible verlo desde estas latitudes en el ocaso, ya que estará muy cerca del Sol.
Letra C ► Indica que se trata de un cometa no periódico.
2023 ► Señala el año de su descubrimiento.
Letra A ► Indica que fue descubierto en la quincena que se extiende del 1 al 15 de enero.

Tsuchinshan ► Significa en chino, Observatorio de la Montaña Púrpura, donde fue descubierto el 9 de enero de 2023.
ATLAS ► Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System ( Sistema de Última Alerta por impacto Terrestre de Asteroides ), donde fue localizado de manera independiente el 22 de febrero de 2023.
El gráfico de la curva de luz muestra el desarrollo estimado de la magnitud del cometa (escalas izquierda y derecha) a lo largo del tiempo. La curva gris emplea datos de la MPEC ( Minor Planet Electronic Circular = Circular Electrónica de Planetas Menores). La curva roja está elaborada con la última base de datos de COBS ( Comet OBServation), y en las observaciones del MPC Minor Planet Center). la curva de color verde muestra el efecto de la dispersión directa, que puede ocurrir cuando el cometa pasa entre la Tierra y el Sol.

C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS in evening sky with huge 70% moon in east. 2024 October 14 at 2:00 UT, 8" f/2 RASA, ZWO ASI2600 MC, Elevation 5500, Payson. This set was 75 subs each 5s long as to not overexpose the nucleus. Total integration was 6 minutes. Was seen in a blue moonlit sky quite high up in the west, 25 degrees of tail seen visually.

As C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) becomes to be incredibly well visible as Great Comet 2024, maybe something can be missed. Just so close to the majestic tail of this comet, photographers can also reveal the faint 13P/Olbers on its goodbye route. I captured today over Roztoky, Slovakia, both comets in one. For better identification, an annotated version is also attached. Canon Ra, Samyang 85mm, f1.4, ISO 500, 50x8s, tracked on Vixen Polarie U.

ZODIACAL LIGHT AND DAWN LONG TAIL COMET Taken by Wang Letian & Li Zhaoqi on October 2, 2024 @ Mauna Kea, Hawaii, USA
In the Northern Hemisphere, the zodiacal light can be seen in the east just before dawn in October every year. This photo not only shows the zodiacal light before dawn, but also a comet with a long tail, the Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, also known as C/2023 A3. The photo was taken with a 50mm fixed-focus lens, without any cropping, and the comet's tail extends for more than 15 degree!!! The yellow lights of the city of Hilo in the distance illuminate the clouds, however, the red sunshine illuminate the sky.
