UN ÁRBOL DE NAVIDAD EN LAS PROFUNDIDADES DEL COSMOS //// INFO: LICENCIADO EN FÍSICA JOSÉ LUIS LOMÁSCOLO

NGC 2264, también conocido, por razones obvias, como el Cúmulo del Árbol de Navidad, se encuentra a una distancia de 2500 a 2700 años luz, para dar una idea de la distancia a la que se encuentra, consideremos la siguiente escala: un milímetro representa 100 millones de kilómetros, en esa escala la distancia Sol-Tierra sería de 1.5 milímetros y este cúmulo se encontraría a una distancia de 236.5 a 255.44 kilómetros.

Imagen de NGC 2264, el gas de esta nebulosa de emisión virado al verde acrecienta la apariencia de árbol de navidad, las estrellas que adornan el árbol son estrellas jóvenes con edades comprendidas entre uno y cinco millones de años y masas que oscilan entre una décima parte de la masa del Sol a siete veces la masa de este último.

Si el conjunto emitiera la suficiente luz, podría verse a simple vista, ya que su tamaño aparente es de unos 10 minutos de arco ( la tercera parte del tamaño de una Luna llena ).

La brillante estrella que aparece en la base del árbol es 15 Monocerotis, HD 47839, HR 2456.

Datos de 15 Monocerotis según programa Stellarium:

Ascensión recta ► 6 h 42 m 18.9 s

Declinación ► +9° 52' 25.2"

Magnitud visual ► +4.65

El 24 de diciembre de 2023 junto con el Árbol de Navidad cósmico, atravesará el meridiano de Rosario a la hora 01:34:59 a una altura sobre el horizonte norte de 47° 10'.

Esta imagen compuesta muestra el grupo Árbol de Navidad. Las luces azules y blancas ( que parpadean en la versión animada de esta imagen ) son estrellas jóvenes que emiten rayos X detectados por el Observatorio de rayos X Chandra de la NASA. Los datos ópticos del telescopio WIYN de 0,9 metros de la Fundación Nacional de Ciencias en Kitt Peak muestran el gas de la nebulosa en verde, correspondiente a las “agujas de pino” del árbol, y los datos infrarrojos del Two Micron All Sky Survey muestran estrellas en primer y segundo plano en blanco.

Los parpadeos coordinados en rayos X de las estrellas se han sincronizado para resaltar la apariencia con las luces de un verdadero árbol de navidad.

UNTIL JANUARY 28, 2024, THE DEUTSCHES MUSEUM IN MUNICH IS SHOWING THE SPECIAL EXHIBITION "100 YEARS OF PLANETARIUM".

So if you haven't seen the exhibition yet, you still have time for a visit.

In 1923, a technical innovation was presented in Munich that was to be spread around the world from there: the projection planetarium. The exhibition "100 Years of Planetarium" features the first planetarium projector, the legendary Zeiss "Model I" projector, and the four-meter high, 2.5-ton "Model IV", which was in service at the Deutsches Museum from 1961 to 1988. Furthermore, there are also exhibits from earlier times such as a 16th century astrolabe, a disk-shaped instrument for calculating the movement of the heavens. Current space images, including those sent to earth by the Hubble Space Telescope, show the planetarium's continuing connection to modern research.

ON DECEMBER 1, 1983, THE WOLFSBURG PLANETARIUM OPENED ITS DOORS TO THE PUBLIC FOR THE FIRST TIME.

The first planetarium projector, which is still on display in the foyer today, was a gift from Volkswagen AG to the city of Wolfsburg to mark the 40th anniversary of the city's founding. The car manufacturer had previously received the projector as part of a compensation deal for 10,000 Golf I cars with the former German Democratic Republic. The story of the planetarium's origins is therefore a fascinating and remarkable chapter in German history.

The planetarium is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its opening together with the public with various activities and a special show program.

We at ZEISS, Planetarium Division, are proud to be a part of this history and to be a reliable partner to this day.

ZEISS COLLOQUIUM ON THE HISTORY AND FUTURE OF ZEISS PLANETARIUMS ONLINE PRESENTATION BY MARTIN KRAUS AND DR. CHRISTIAN DICK ON 21 NOVEMBER 2023

Martin Kraus, Head of the ZEISS Planetariums, and Dr. Christian Dick, Head of Development for Software and Information Technology at ZEISS Planetariums, have been invited to speak at the online ZEISS Colloquium Innovation Talks taking place on 21 November 2023.

Their talk is entitled, “The stars were just the beginning – from the first star projector to the interactive visualization of large volumes of data”. The presentation will be held in German. Those who are interested in the topic can attend the MS Teams live event and use the live translated captions, if needed.

The International Planetarium Society (IPS) and the Society of German-speaking Planetariums e. V. (GDP) are holding this event to celebrate the planetarium centennial along with planetariums from around the world between 21 October 2023 and 7 May 2025. The first public demonstration of the world’s first star projector from ZEISS on 21 October 1923 at the Deutsches Museum in Munich is considered to be the birth of the modern planetarium. The ZEISS name and planetariums worldwide have been closely linked ever since.

This ZEISS event is also open to the public. The online talk will be held at 4 pm on 21 November 2023 in german language. The ZEISS Colloquium is free of charge. The link for the presentation is here:
