2023 SOLAR ECLIPSE Taken by Eliot Herman on April 20, 2023 @ Ah Chong Island

I observed the 2023 eclipse on Ah Chong Island that is part of the Montebello group off the coast of Western Australia. This is a small 59 acre uninhabited island is not far from the 1950s UK nuclear test site, now a conservation site. This eclipse was bright, the sky not darkening much and the eclipse was brilliant in appearance. The flares were easily visible and in photographs considerable detail was apparent. The first image is all 27 images captured of the inner corona during the 62.7 seconds of totality. The second image shows the progression from Bailey's beads at C2 to C3. The third image shows the outer corona in a HDR stack. It was a remarkable experience to observe this eclipse far from the crowds and civilization with the only people visible was our small group of 15 observers on the beach of the island.
