UPGRADE OF THE PLANETARIUM PROJECTOR UNIVERSARIUM MARK IX - MANNHEIM PLANETARIUM

What to do during the compulsory breaks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic? In Mannheim the time is being used for an earlier upgrade of the planetarium projector UNIVERSARIUM Mark IX. In close coordination with the Mannheim Planetarium, our technicians were able to start the upgrades last week and get to the heart of the projector. From now on the stars in Mannheim shine even more brilliantly! The new LED light sources not only make the stars brighter, they now appear pure white, i.e. even more natural than before. Speaking of nature. The less people know the sight of an unspoiled and moonless starry sky from their own experience, the more important it becomes to preserve this sight in the planetarium. It is good that there is technology specialized for this exact purpose. So that the almost 18-year-old projector in Mannheim can simulate this view for many more years to come, it will also be given additional upgrades. Let us look forward to a hopefully soon reopening after the crisis-related closure!
