HANS KÖPPEN SERVICING THE MARK V PROJECTOR IN BERLIN //// CARL ZEISS PLANETARIUMS

Optics, mechanics and electrics – these are the main components of a classic planetarium projector. Hardly any other instrument is as impressive as the five meter-high model for large planetariums in its typical dumbbell shape.

From a technological point of view, they are a thing of the past. Nevertheless, their functions are still up to date, their starry sky is more impressive than those of numerous digital systems from today.

No wonder that this appreciation is connected with the wish to keep these magnificent machines alive.

ZEISS supports its customers in maintaining the value of even decades-old devices such as the Mark V projector in the planetarium of the Wilhelm Foerster Observatory in Berlin.

At the beginning of this month, experienced technicians intensively serviced the 55-year-old projector so that it can continue to make its very special contribution to astronomical education for years to come.
